Aum Ventures Secures Rs 225 Cr First Close for India Innovation Fund II
Mumbai-based early-stage venture capital firm Aum Ventures has officially announced the first close of its second flagship vehicle, the India Innovation Fund II. The firm successfully raised Rs 225 crore (approximately $27 million), marking a significant milestone in its mission to back high-potential, intellectual property (IP)-led technology startups emerging from the Indian ecosystem.
Aum Ventures has carved a niche for itself by focusing on deep-tech and IP-driven companies that possess the scalability to compete in global markets. By targeting startups that prioritize proprietary technology over mere service-based models, the firm aims to bridge the gap between Indian engineering talent and international commercial success.
Strategic Backing for Global Ambitions
The capital for this first close was sourced from a diverse group of stakeholders, including international limited partners, prominent family offices, successful entrepreneurs, and strategic investors. This diverse investor base not only provides the necessary liquidity for early-stage bets but also brings a wealth of global networking and mentorship opportunities to the portfolio companies.
As the Indian startup ecosystem matures, the demand for "smart capital"—investors who understand the complexities of IP development and global market entry—has never been higher. Aum Ventures is positioning itself as a critical partner for founders who are building complex, defensible technology stacks. With this fresh infusion of capital, the firm is well-equipped to identify and nurture the next generation of Indian tech unicorns that are built to solve global problems.
This development underscores the continued resilience of the Indian venture capital market, even amidst a broader global recalibration of investment strategies. For founders in the deep-tech space, the India Innovation Fund II represents a vital lifeline of support, providing the resources needed to transition from laboratory-scale innovation to global market dominance.
