River Mobility Secures $120M Series C to Accelerate EV Expansion
In a significant boost for India’s burgeoning electric vehicle sector, River Mobility, the Bengaluru-based manufacturer of utility-oriented electric two-wheelers, has successfully closed a massive $120 million Series C funding round. This capital injection marks a pivotal moment for the company as it looks to scale its manufacturing capabilities and expand its footprint in the competitive EV market.
The round was co-led by Elev8 Venture Partners and Claypond Capital, reflecting strong investor confidence in River’s unique approach to the electric scooter segment. Unlike many competitors focusing solely on urban commuting, River has carved out a niche with its flagship product, the Indie scooter, which is specifically engineered for utility and heavy-duty performance. This strategic focus has resonated well with both consumers and institutional backers.
A Global Syndicate of Backers
The Series C round saw an impressive turnout of both new and existing investors, underscoring the global interest in India’s EV manufacturing ecosystem. Beyond the lead investors, the round saw participation from a diverse group including Singularity AMC, Anicut Capital, 360 ONE Asset, JIF Capital, and HDFC AMC. Notably, the round also attracted strategic interest from international heavyweights such as Yamaha Motor Corporation, Al Futtaim Group, and Mitsui & Co., signaling that River’s technology and business model have global scalability potential.
In addition to equity funding, the company secured support from venture debt providers including Alteria Capital, Innoven Capital, and Stride Ventures, providing the necessary liquidity to manage operational growth and supply chain expansion.
The Road Ahead
River Mobility has distinguished itself by prioritizing durability and utility, positioning its vehicles as reliable workhorses for the modern Indian consumer. With this fresh capital, the company is well-positioned to ramp up production, invest in R&D for future product lines, and strengthen its service network across the country. As the Indian government continues to push for faster EV adoption, River Mobility is clearly positioning itself as a frontrunner in the transition toward sustainable, utility-focused transportation.
